MODEL COMPARISON: 2019 ACURA TLX VS 2019 LEXUS ES 350
Exceptional levels of luxury, reliability, and pure driving pleasure have made the Acura TLX and Lexus ES 350 two of the most popular mid-sized sedans on the road today. The base models of each come loaded with high-end amenities that many manufacturers call options. While base models of the two match up closely in almost every important category, it should be noted that the MSRP for the 2019 Acura TLX comes in at about fifteen percent less than that of the Lexus ES 350. Surprisingly, however, even with the substantial savings the TLX offers, it holds its own, and then some, in almost every important category. Here's a look.
Exterior
As they have in the past, this year's TLX and ES 350 turn heads and win hearts with aerodynamic design, sport styling, LED lighting, dual chrome exhaust, and alloy wheels. A Four-piece Diamond Pentagon Grille flanked by Jewel Eye LED headlights, combined with a wide stance give the 2019 TLX a youthful look compared to the ES 350 with chiseled lines and the traditional Lexus hourglass grille. Both models come standard with a power moonroof, body coloured side mirrors, and heated power driver and passenger side mirrors.
Interior
As expected, both models come with excellent sound systems and boast exceptional levels of comfort and convenience. Some notable features on each include heated leather front seats, dual zone climate control (voice-activated on the TLX), a colour TFT multi-information display, and push-button start. The TLX also adds remote start, as well. A 10-speaker SiriusXM AM/FM/Satellite radio comes standard on each model. The Acura gets upgraded ELS Studio speakers. Both sound systems also feature Siri Eyes Free voice-activated audio controls. A TLX comparably priced to the ES 350 would also come with voice-activated navigation.
Safety
Along with front, side, and overhead airbag systems, the TLX and ES 350 also come with a wealth of advanced safety technologies which include ABS and Driveline Traction Control, Collision Mitigation Braking, and Electronic Stability Control. The Acura TLX also features a Blind Spot Warning System and Adaptive Cruise Control with Traffic Jam Assist.
