2019 ACURA TLX VS 2019 LEXUS IS
Exceptional levels of luxury, initial quality, and dependability make the Acura TLX, and the Lexus IS two of the most popular sports sedans on the road today. But, while this year's editions have much in common, each also come with a number of standard features not found, or available, on the other. Here's a look at the base trims of the 2019 Acura TLX, and the 2019 Lexus IS, and how they stack-up in some of the most important categories.
Exterior
For 2019, both vehicles continue to turn heads and win hearts with LED headlighting (conventional on the Lexus and Jewel Eye on the Acura), aerodynamic lines, and bold front styling. Lexus once again gives the IS its signature hourglass-shaped grille from prior years, while Acura updated the TLX with a newly designed Diamond Pentagon grille.
Interior
As expected, the Acura TLX and Lexus IS both come with heated front seats (a package upgrade on the IS) and a 10-way adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support. The TLX also gets leather upholstery at no extra charge. Both vehicles come with excellent sound systems that feature touchscreen controls (single screen on the IS and dual screen on the TLX), SiriusXM satellite radio, Siri Eyes Free, and Bluetooth connectivity. The TLX also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, as well as Pandora compatibility. Spacewise, the TLX and IS matchup closely with the TLX having slightly more hip and shoulder room.
Safety
Both vehicles come standard with advanced safety features such as Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, a Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow, and a rear camera (single-view on the IS and multi-view on the TLX). Not available on the IS, the TLX also comes with a Road Departure Mitigation System.
