Things You Need To Change A Flat Tire
To correctly change your flat tire, locate the lug wrench, jack, inflated spare tire and vehicle owner's manual. Usually, you will find the tools in the truck under the floor covering, and the owner's manual will be in the glovebox. Other useful items to have that are not included with the vehicle are wheel wedges, flashlight, gloves and a small piece of wood. Make sure to remove all the necessary tools and the spare tire from the vehicle before beginning.
How To Change A Flat Tire
Begin by slowly bringing the vehicle to a stop to a flat area where it's safe to perform the tire change. Once you have your vehicle in a safe area, start by applying the emergency parking brake and ensure that the vehicle's gear lever is in the park position. Read the owner's manual to know where the jacking points are and where to find the emergency tools. If you have a wheel wedge, place it behind one of the rear wheels and proceed to use the lug wrench to break loose the lug nuts, but make sure not to loosen them all the way. Now you will place the jack on the jacking point closest to the flat tire and raise the vehicle high enough to get the wheel to spin freely, then remove all the lug nuts. Now you will use both hands to lift the flat tire off and replace it with the spare wheel, then spin the lug nuts by hand a few turns before using the lug wrench to snug all lug nuts till it's flat against the wheel hub. Lower the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern to the specified torque requirement.
